Watch: Ugo Monye Casually Slots ‘Johnny Sexton Level’ Drop Goal While On Punditry Duties

The rugby season is fast approaching the business end of the calendar and following an epic seven weeks of international rugby in the form of the Six Nations, it appears there is to be no let-up in the action.

As eight sides prepare for the Champions Cup quarter-finals this coming weekend, the domestic leagues are continuing at a pace, with the PRO14 and Aviva Premierships clubs jockeying for playoff spots, hoping for another shot at glory.

At the weekend, Saracens welcomed fellow capital city dwellers Harlequins to the London Stadium, where many of England’s Six Nations internationals sought to banish the demons of their worst Test series in three and a half decades.

While double-defending European champions Saracens took the honours with a 24 – 11, thanks to an emphatic statement-making performance from Maro Itoje, it was arguably a moment from the warm-up that stole the show.

With BT Sport on hand for some sideline punditry, former Quins back and England speedster Ugo Monye joined the team to give his take on the days.

Then, in a moment of impromptu magic, the 34-year-old, while making reference to the playing surface, deftly took the ball and slotted this epic drop goal from about 30 metres out on the right touchline.

What makes this all the more impressive was the fact he was wearing his ‘civilian’ clothes, complete with Chelsea boots, coat and scarf.

Take a look.

After the drop goal heroics from Ireland’s Jonathan Sexton against France all those weeks ago, who knew he would have a rival for drop goal of the season from a retired player with a microphone in his hand. Certainly the best-dressed drop goal of all time, surely?
