The Top 14 has long been known as a physical league and with its ability to draw in some of the best players in the world, it is also one of the flashiest.
Sometimes, however, there are moments that have no place on the professional playing field, where childish antics spill into the game and leave all those involved looking just a little bit ridiculous.
This past weekend, just such a moment was enacted in front of some 14,000 spectators in Agen, where the home side were taking on the might of in-form Toulon.
Early in the first-half, in an off-the-ball incident, Agen scrum-half Ricky Januarie delivers a heavy tackle on Toulon’s Fiji star Semi Radradra.
Following up with some sledging and gesticulations by the South African to the flattened winger, Radradra clearly took exception to the cheap shot and delivered a deft kick to groin of Januaire.
The result of the pantomime-style encounter left both players in a heap on the floor, with fans simultaneously crying foul and enjoying the ridiculousness of the moment in equal measure.
Take a look.
Luckily, the match referee saw fit to merely chastise both players for their antics and after each had dusted themselves down, they shook hands and got on with the game as professionals.
Agen went on to win the contest 26-24, despite four tries from Toulon, two of which were set up by Radradra himself.
