Johnny Fa’auli left his mark on Andrew Horrell in the ITM Cup.
The ITM Cup has a strange habit of presenting us with brilliant tries, bizarre calls and unbelievable tackles. In this sense the ITM Cup can provide some of the most entertaining highlight reels in rugby.
The tournament lived to such a billing during the clash between Hawke’s Bay and Counties Manukau. Although the Magpies won out easy 35-11 winners, Counties player Johnny Fa’auli left his mark on the game.
With the one sided fixture effectively over and Counties looking for some inspiration, Fa’auli floored Andrew Horrell with a thunderous tackle.
The unfortunate Horrell found himself exposed as he tried to reach a poor pass. It was at this point that Fa’auli hit the centre, having lined him up.
Horrell won’t be thanking his number eight for that pass anytime soon.
