Watch The Brilliant Scenes At Tbilisi Airport As Georgia Return To a Heroes Welcome

Georgia returned to Tbilisi yesterday.

Georgian rugby reached a new high at the World Cup. Victory over Tonga in their opening game sparked celebrations in both Gloucester and Tbilisi, while their performance against the All Blacks led to calls for the Lelos to be included in the Six Nations.

Led by the man mountain that is Mamuka Gorgodze, the Georgian pack made its presence felt against each of their opponents in Pool C.

However this tournament has also seen the Lelos add an attacking threat out wide, with 22 year old inside centre Merab Sharikadze and full back Merab Kvirikashvili particularly impressing.

The result is that the 2015 World Cup could become a watershed moment for Georgian rugby. With scenes like these, it can only be hoped that World Rugby will support the continued development of the sport in the country.
