There was plenty of drama in the Top 14 on Sunday as Racing’s Wenceslas Lauret and Stade Français’ Pascal Papé were both shown red cards in a mid-match brawl.
With Stade Français leading 13-6, on the stroke of half-time both sides were reduced to 14 men, when both Lauret and Papé were sent off.
The fight started with a bit of pushing and shoving, before things really started kicking off. Playing in his last ever game for Stade Français, French lock forward Papé decided to finish with a bang, as he landed a punch in the face of Racing centre Henry Chavancy.
Racing loose forward Lauret didn’t take too kindly to this attack on his teammate and retaliated with a punch of his own to the head of Papé, leading to both being sent off for their trouble.
Watch the brawl unfold below:
Despite both sides playing with just 14 players for the remainder of the match, there was plenty of action in the second half as Stade Français scored 14 unanswered points, before Racing responded with ten points of their own.
This set up a dramatic finish, as Stade eventually won the game 27-23.
