Sergio Parisse could be facing a long ban.
Despite losing Sergio Parisse to a red card as the first half came to a conclusion, Stade Francais managed to salvage a losing bonus point from their 23-18 defeat at the hands of Toulouse last weekend.
However, it looks as though the Parisian club will be without their captain for the foreseeable future, as the French authorities will not rule on the incident that saw Parisse sent off until they hold a disciplinary hearing on October 12.
According to L’Equipe, Parisse will be be suspended until such time as the Ligue Nationale de Rugby hold their disciplinary meeting on that date.
This means the Italian captain will miss two rounds of league fixtures before the hearing takes place, essentially leaving Parisse sitting on the sidelines until further notice.
Parisse was sent off after the referee judged that the number eight spear tackled Toulouse’s Gillian Galan in the 36th minute. Although some commentators debated whether or not Parisse deserved to be sent off, by the letter of the law, the match officials’ decision was correct.
