Brian Mujati, the self-proclaimed ‘most shredded tighthead prop in world rugby’ will be eminently familiar to fans of Northampton Saints, where he spent four typically destructive years.
By the same token, Leinster fans would need no reminding of his scrummaging masterclass in the 2011 Heineken Cup final. The Saints’ loss that day was certainly no fault of Mujati, although his career since has been comparably nondescript following two years with Racing Metro.
The same cannot be said of his vlog, The Life of Brian. His weekly uploads offer a fascinating insight into the life of the modern rugby player and, in Mujati’s case, what is the optimum brewing technique for his latest pale ale or lager.
Mujati’s candid opinions and musings make the watch enjoyable and intriguing in equal measure and the latest instalment could be one of the best yet.
His views on the ‘marginal input’ a prop actually makes in a match are thought-provoking and, as Sale move into a European Champions Cup qualification spot, his personal views on the achievement could be interpreted as surprising, or hilarious, depending on your viewpoint.
