Watch: Ma’a Nonu Destroys Bordeaux Defence And Then Gifts Teammate The Glory

Toulon superstar and former All Black Ma’a Nonu showed the Bordeaux Begles at the weekend that while age can slow a man, it does not dull pure class.

The 34-year-old was at his typically terrifying best against the Top 14 strugglers on Saturday, turning in another ball carrying and line breaking masterclass for the French giants.

The 13-26 away victory for Toulon assures them of their quarter-final place in the knockout stages of the Top 14 and Nonu took all the plaudits after the game with this reminder of his brilliance.

Receiving the ball inside the Bordeaux ten metre line, the former All Black burst through three, admittedly, hapless defenders and sauntered towards the line with France captain Guilhem Guirado on his shoulder.

In a moment of absolute class, the back handed his hooker the glory, passing him the ball on the five metre line, allowing Guirado to splash down for a rare five points.

The passage of play exuded class, first with Nonu’s blistering turn of pace and then his magnanimous gesture to his teammate.

The home defeat leaves Bordeaux in 11th position in the Top 14 table, though they remain safely in the top flight for another term due to the dismal season suffered by Grenoble and Bayonne, both of whom will play second tier rugby next year.
