As they fly out of New Zealand today after a truly memorable series, the British and Irish Lions’ official website has released stirring behind the scenes footage of last Saturday’s crucial third Test.
A 15-15 draw saw the Lions share the series and become the first touring side to draw a series since 1955. Saturday’s draw also saw New Zealand’s amazing 23-year winning streak at Eden Park come to an end.
To a background of stirring music, the short video shows Warren Gatland’s men arriving at Eden Park, the anxious final minutes before they take the field and the spine-tingling moment they face the haka for the final time.
The drama of the third Test is encapsulated in a series of excellent images, which capture the intensity and emotion of a Test match, which will live long in the memory.
The video also captures the first moments after the end of the Test as Sam Warbuton and Kieran Read lift the trophy together and both sets of players mingle, in an act which captures the true spirit of the game.
The series may be over but it will undoubtedly live long in the memory and showed without doubt that the Lions must continue.
