All Blacks star Julian Savea showed that he still has plenty to offer with a tremendous turn of pace to create an important try for Wellington in their 49-21 Mitre 10 Cup semi-final win over Northland.
Receiving the ball out wide on the halfway line, the 6ft 4in, 16st 10lb powerhouse absolutely skins the opposition with a dazzling turn of pace, before coolly drawing his man to put full-back Trent Renata over for a fine try.
The try was just one of six scores which the capital team ran in, in a highly-entertaining nine-try encounter at the Westpac stadium.
The try in question, however, can be seen below.
He also delivered a fine off-load to set up Wes Goosen for a try and also showed his huge power by bowling over an opposition defender in the first half.
Dropped by Steve Hansen for this season’s Rugby Championship due to his poor form, the man known as ‘the Bus’, who has scored an amazing 46 tries in only 54 tests, showed that he is keen to regain his All Black shirt in an impressive display.
Wellington face Bay of Plenty in the final next Friday.
