This does not look good for Israel Folau…
South Africa and Australia yesterday played out a thrilling 27-27 draw in the Rugby Championship, as the Rugby Championship turns for the home straight.
The Wallabies and Springboks drew twice during the Championship, as they gear up for the final round of matches next weekend.
However, the major talking point after the game was Israel Folau allegedly pulling the hair of opposition player Dillyn Leyds.
The footage available doesn’t look good for the fullback.
Speaking after the game, head coach Michael Cheika elected to defend his player, focusing on the reaction of Eben Etzebeth.
“(Folau) grabbed the guy around the collar. OK, that’s a high tackle. I understand. That’s a penalty, I’m down with that.
“Then (Etzebeth) comes in and doesn’t get him with the elbow, but it was angling that way.
“We’re obviously listening to the fourth official. He’s saying nothing about the other guy coming in with the elbow raised up but he’s talking about our guy pulling someone’s hair.
“He’s the captain of the other team. If he does (get him), what happens then?” Quote via NZ Herald.
Despite Cheika’s staunch defence, Folau could find himself in hot water as the video evidence comes across as rather conclusive.
