Rugby fans in the northern hemisphere are enduring the rugby drought that is the summer off-season. Domestic and European competitions have ended and the dust has long since settled on the various summer tours undertaken by Six Nations countries.
In the southern hemisphere the Super Rugby league tournament is pushing on in earnest as club sides from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa continue to beat lumps out of each other in a bid to be crowned king.
With the visiting northern hemisphere countries arriving smack bang in the middle of the Super Rugby season, the fact that England completed a whitewash series victory over the mighty Australia last month highlights the strength of the Six Nations grand slam champions.
Though England were victorious in Australia, each of the three contests were closely fought battles and despite England taking home the bragging rights, Australia had much to cheer for in the shape of the dynamic and explosive Israel Folau.
Featuring strongly in the their losing series to England, the Wallabies back was formidable with ball in hand, breaking lines and scoring tries, as he is accustomed to doing.
Having originally started his rugby career in the rugby league code, his switch to rugby union heralded a seismic change to the Waratahs and Australia’s attacking options as he is comfortable in fullback, centre or the wing.
Check out this highlight reel of the unstoppable Folau in action.
