Watch: Conor O’Shea Hits Out At Matt Dawson In Barb Filled Interview

England overcame a massively improved Italy at Twickenham today, running out 36-15 winners over Conor O’Shea’s side.

The visitors had Eddie Jones’ charges spinning with their clever tactics at the breakdown. They didn’t engage at ruck time, thus erasing any offside line, allowing the Azurri pack to target Danny Care at will. The scoreboard after 40 minutes, against every prediction, read 10-5 to Italy.

The former Japan boss reorganised the hosts at half-time and they came out all guns blazing after the break, quickly restoring their lead and pushing on for the bonus point win.

O’Shea and his staff were widely criticised for the tactics they deployed for supposedly “killing the spectacle” despite playing firmly inside the laws.

Former England scrum-half Matt Dawson took aim at the Limerick-born coach in a fairly bizarre Twitter rant during the game.

In a compelling interview with BBC Radio Five Live, O’Shea opened up on his team’s display and Dawson’s comments.

The former Northampton and Wasps nine has since responded to the head coach’s comments.

The Italians host France next at the Stadio Olimpico in a fixture that has yielded some of their famous results over the years.
