Watch: Brian O’Driscoll & Austin Healey Debate Who Should Start At 10 For The Lions

With the Six Nations already a distant memory, rugby pundits and fans alike have turned their attention to this summer’s Lions tour of New Zealand.

With many positions in the starting XV still open for debate, one of the hottest talking points now surrounds who should take the number 10 jersey. Johnny Sexton is at this point the favourite to start as the Lions fly-half, however cases can be made for some other contenders.

Owen Farrell

Popular opinion states that Owen Farrell should start in the centre but many feel that the Saracens man should take the number 10 spot with some concerns that Sexton will not have the durability to withstand three grueling tests vs the All Blacks.

Finn Russell was only yesterday selected in the statistically based official Six Nations team of the tournament and although they seem like long shots, Dan Biggar and George Ford are also in the conversation.

Having said that, a recent poll conducted by Sky Sports had Sexton as the public’s choice to start at 10 with Farrell falling shortly behind in second and, discussing the topic on BT Sports this week, Brian O’Driscoll and Austin Healey were of the exact same frame of mind.
