What happens when a tighthead thinks he’s a fly half?
Last weekend, Newcastle took on Bath in what was a cracking affair at Kingston Park. Having initially fallen behind, the Falcons rallied in the later stages to pull off a fantastic comeback victory.
The game finished 24-22 after a frantic final ten minutes saw Newcastle powering over the line with two tries. However, the moment of the game wasn’t a try or a magnificent piece of skill, the moment of the match came when Jon Welsh seemingly became possessed by the spirit of an out-half.
Picking the ball up along the back line, a gap presented itself in front of the tighthead and Welsh kindly obliged by surging through it. However, it was at this moment that the forward got slightly ahead of himself as he attempted a hilarious chip over Bath’s Watson.

@thepenGW it takes a special kind of prop to find themselves isolated on the charge. Superb! (Tho not sure coaches would agree!)
