Last week, we compiled a team of the greatest players to ever grace the Six Nations championship. While some positions undoubtedly caused their fair share of debate, the biggest bone of contention was the selection at out-half.

Jonny Wilkinson and Ronan O’Gara both had their merits, but we went for the Englishman, much to the disappointment of some readers. Some pointed to O’Gara’s defence as a weakness, as Wilkinson was stronger in that department.

But how much stronger?

We searched the internet until we could find evidence, and here it is.

This video compiles Wilko’s ten best ever tackles, and some of them are real beauties. Despite his small stature, the World Cup winner never backed away from an onrushing attacker, and was more than capable of standing up and putting in the hit.

While the former Newcastle and Toulon fly-half is rightly remembered for being one of the greatest kickers to ever grace a rugby field, it is important to remember he was also a quality defender.
