Patrick ‘Rala’ O’Reilly has served as bag-man for the Irish Rugby team for the last 20 years, with the Terenure native a constant throughout the ups and downs of the professional era. Yesterday’s Rugby World Cup exit at the hands of Argentina brought an end to the Rala’s tenure, and he will be fondly remembered.
It is a disappointment to all in the camp that they could not see him go out on a high by reaching a first ever World Cup semi-final. However, his time in the camp will be cherished, and he is wished all the best for his retirement.
Irish Rugby put together this emotional tribute to O’Reilly, and it is clear that he will be sadly missed.
