Video: Brawl Breaks Out Just 35 Seconds Into French Club Game

It seems that there is a brawl in France every week these days.

Former French giants Biarritz are currently playing in the second tier, ProD2. This weekend, they were facing Bayonnais, who are renowned for their tough style.

It was clear that there were tensions in the match, and it didn’t take too long for those to spill over, as a brawl broke out after just 35 seconds of play.

It is not the first time that Bayonne have been involved in a high profile scuffle, having faced Ireland three weeks the Rugby World Cup in 2007, in a game that is now infamously known as the ‘Battle of Bayonne’. The French outfit sought a fight with the Irish, which culminated in Brian O’Driscoll fracturing a sinus.

That does not sound one bit appealing.

Anyway, take a look at this riot. It is quite the spectacle.

In fairness to the referee, this game did not need red cards so early, it simply needed a bit of flow to get things underway, and in light of that, the pair of yellow cards were probably a good idea.
