Wasps qualified for the Champions Cup semi finals after a last gasp 25-24 win over Exeter Chiefs.
Just as it seemed that the Exeter Chiefs were going to hold on and claim a spot in the European Rugby Champions Cup semi finals, they were denied by Jimmy Gopperth’s last gasp conversion.
Gopperth was given the opportunity to win the game after Charles Piutau crossed the line after a yet another powerful run into the teeth of the Chiefs’ defence.
Although Piutau’s try provided Gopperth with a match winning conversion, it was not an easy kick, five yards inside the touchline. However the Kiwi held his nerve, and was celebrating before his conversion flew between the posts.
While Wasps won in a fairytale manner, it is difficult not to feel for the Chiefs who seemed to tire as the game entered the final ten minutes.
