Twitter Reacts to Ireland’s Seismic Win on South African Soil

Ireland recorded a brilliant 26-20 win over South Africa.

Ireland opening test in their three test tour of South Africa has ended in a win following a thoroughly impressive performance in Cape Town.

It’s Ireland first ever win against The Springboks in South Africa, which illustrates the magnitude of the achievement.

Despite an early red card for CJ Stander, Ireland’s 14 men soldiered on impressively to record a 26-20 win. Tries from Jared Payne and Connor Murray meant that even an intercept try for South African lock Peter-Steph du Toit was not enough for them to reel Ireland in.

Paddy Jackson marshaled the performance with remarkable calmness as his scored several tricky penalties, and a drop goal, to drag Ireland over the line. Twitter was understandably delighted.

Test 2 takes place in Ellis Park, Johannesburg next Saturday, where the boys in green will be hoping for a repeat performance.
