Both Toulon and Racing are said to be locked in a bidding war.
Early last month we reported that Sergio Parisse’s future at Stade Francais was in doubt after stating that he had yet to make a decision on his future.
Although the Italian legend did point out, ‘at the moment there is nothing concrete’, rumours continued to circulate as to Parisse’s future.
While we were expecting a number of clubs to be interested in a player of Parisse’s stature, few would have thought that after signing Duane Vermeulen, Toulon would have space another number 8.
However that is exactly what French based rugby journalist, Gavin Mortimer, reported yesterday.
Well, M.O says Parisse has received a three-year offer from Racing 92, which he was “very close to accepting”. Until another club appeared..

Exactly, Toulon. Apparently Mourad has met Parisse to discuss the finer details & the Italian will make his decision “in the coming days”

Although both Mortimer and Midi Olympique reported that Mourad Boudjellal wants to sign the Italian, Rugbyrama have quoted the Toulon owner as saying ‘we do not need Sergio Parisse in Toulon. We have no interest in recruiting him’.
While this would appear to pave the way for Racing to capture the Stade Captain, nothing is ever that straight forward with Toulon.
