Its official. Nick Jooste, the kicking prodigy from Perth has been snaffled up by the Brumbies at the raw age of 18.
Jooste will follow in the footsteps of the likes of James O’Conner and Kurtley Beale straight into Super Rugby out of school.
The Perth man, who kicks goals from 60-70 metres out, received interest from franchises in Australia and South Africa — where his father was born — but it has been confirmed that he will settle in Canberra next year.
The Aussie will head straight into the full-time training squad and he will have the expertise and tutelage of Stephen Larkham, one of the greatest flyhalfs to ever play the game. Larkham will assist in everything from game management, kicking and even defense – where the young star will surely be tested in his first Super Rugby season.
Playing minutes however will be scarce for the young flyhalf as the Brumbies will look to ease Jooste into his first year of pro footy. This will also give him the chance to pick the brains of international first five Matt Toomua – one of the standouts for the Wallabies this year.
