We remember a famous try of one of Munster’s most beloved players, Peter Stringer.
For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we look back at Peter Stringer’s famous try for Munster in the 2006 Heineken Cup Final against Biarritz at the Millennium Stadium. With the game locked at 10 – 10 with thirty minutes on the clock, a Munster scrum just outside the Biarritz line enabled Stringer to do the unexpected and break on the blindside for an unforgettable try. A moment of sheer brilliance by the former Munster and Ireland scrumhalf. The try proved to be crucial as Munster won by 23 – 19 to lift the European Cup in Cardiff.
With the future of the Heineken Cup still very much up in the air, these kind of special moments may be a thing of the past.
Rugby fans will be hoping otherwise.
