For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we look back at a game in which Jonah Lomu announced himself on the world stage.
On only his sixth cap, he produced an all action performance to lead the All Blacks against England in the World Cup semi final in Twickenham in 1995, scoring four brilliant solo tries. At just twenty years of age, Lomu had already had an impressive tournament for New Zealand but it was this quartet of tries that will live long in the memory. The All blacks went on to win the game 45-29 in a classic encounter before succumbing to South Africa in the final 15-12 in extra time.
With Lomu’s recent health problems, we wish him the best.
He is forever one of the greatest wingers to grace the game.
