The guys over at rugby.net have for some time now, compiled lists detailing the best players in the world. Using mathematically generated data, they claim to objectively rate players from each of rugby’s elite competitions.

Using their Rugby Net Rating Engine, thy interoperate an array of statistics, give them a weighting according to the competitions in which they were recorded and publish them using a complicated mathematical equation. All is explained by clicking here.

In order to give their findings some context, rugby.net publish their results through a series of top tens, categorised by position, competition and hemisphere.

As they keep their data up date, we thought it would be a good idea to find out who they rate as being the best Lions XV available to Warren Gatland on the day he formally appointed his coaching team.
