Stade Francais have revealed their kit for the 2016/17 season.

Over the years we have grown accustomed to Stade Francais wearing jerseys that are not in keeping with traditional rugby design.

The incorporation of feminine colours and wacky design raised eyebrows when the jerseys began to be released in the early part of the new millennium. Indeed, back in 1999. Stade’s traditional blue was accompanied by a regular black shirt.

Stade though changed the design of their alternate kit at the dawn of the new century. Bright pinks and flowers featured prominently, while the club paid tribute to Andy Warhol during the 2008/09 season.

Although many fans voice their disapproval, most remain eager to see how far the Top 14 club will push the boundaries each season.

However, although the face of Blanche de Castille, wife of Louis VIII, seemed be a key theme in their various away strips, her image was dropped in recent years. In 2010, a comic book styled shirt featuring supporters was released, with flowers once again becoming the dominant thereafter.

It now appears they have changed focus again, with their new shirt featuring a character from the ageless video game, Space Invaders, alongside the insignia French Monarchy, the Fleur-de-lis.
