European Cup and Premiership champions Saracens have added two signings to their squad today, after they announced the acquisition of Vincent Koch and Sean Maitland.

Koch is a South African tighthead prop with two caps to his name. The 26 year-old has represented the Stormers in Super Rugby for the past two seasons, and is a fearsome scrummager.

Meanwhile Maitland is better known in England, having played with London Irish for the last year. However, the Exiles’ relegation meant that the former British and Irish Lions winger was always likely to be moving to another club, and Mark McCall’s side proved the most attractive option.

Maitland was a shock call-up to the last Lions squad in 2013, but proved his worth. He is in the Scotland squad touring Japan this month, as Vern Cotter’s side look to help secure a favourable World Cup seeding with a tour win over their hosts in the Far East.

This proves to be a major coup for Sarries, who look to bolster their squad before their defence of both titles next season.

Sarries will be a major force once again next year.
