Ronan O’Gara has been handed a whopping 10-week suspension following some controversial comments he made during a clash with La Rochelle earlier this month.
The former Irish outhalf and current Racing 92 defence coach was extremely displeased with some of the decisions that went against his team vs La Rochelle and, during that encounter, he let the assistant referee know exactly how he felt about the officiating.
O’Gara subsequently met with the LNR to apologise for his actions and to explain the reason for his outburst. However, this seemingly had little to no affect as the lengthy suspension was still handed down.
The ten-week ban means that O’Gara will not be allowed on pitchside for a Top 14 fixture until the 31st of December while the former Ireland international has also been landed with a thumping 15 thousand euro fine.
Given his history with the club, there is one upside for O’Gara in that the ban will not take effect in the Champions Cup which means he will be permitted pitchside at Thomand Park for Racing’s clash with Munster this Saturday.
