Major Shake-Up In The Predicted Ireland XV To Face Italy

Fresh from the dramatic victory over France on Saturday, Joe Schmidt and Ireland look ahead to the visit of Italy as the Six Nations Championship rumbles on.

Josh Van Der Flier’s injury in Paris means that he is out for the season, but while there may only be one forced change to the starting XV this weekend, the Kiwi head coach may make other alterations to the side, according to several media reports.

The back-row is set for a make-over, with Dan Leavy and Jack Conan expected to come in, as CJ Stander drops to the bench. Meanwhile, Jack McGrath and Devin Toner may come in for Cian Healy and James Ryan respectively.

There could be a new look to the bench as well, as Andrew Porter, Kieran Marmion and Jordan Larmour are all expected to feature on the bench.

The official announcement will be at 1:45pm today.

Possible Ireland team to face Italy:

Rob Kearney, Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, Jacob Stockdale, Jonathan Sexton, Conor Murray; Jack McGrath, Rory Best, Tadhg Furlong, Iain Henderson, Devin Toner, Peter O’Mahony, Dan Leavy, Jack Conan.

Replacements:

Cian Healy, Sean Cronin, Andrew Porter, James Ryan, CJ Stander, Kieran Marmion, Joey Carbery, Jordan Larmour.
