Poll: Who Would Make Up Your Combined Lions & All Blacks XV?

This is a bit of a fruitless exercise but with less than 24 hours until the Lions and the All Blacks finally lock horns, we couldn’t help ourselves…

When Warren Gatland named his starting XV for the highly anticipated first Test vs the All Blacks, fans were pleasantly surprised by some of the decisions taken by the head coach.

Given Gatland’s connection to Wales, there had been some suggestion that he was favouring Welsh players with little regard for form. However, when the team was named any preconceived notions regarding Gatland’s motives were thrown out the window and at this moment in time, there seems to be a greater sense of optimism about the Lions chances than at any other point in the tour.

All Blacks supporters were also in for a couple of shocks when Steve Hansen named his side with the omissions of Julian Savea and Anton Lienert-Brown proving particularly puzzling for many.

Although there is still a general acceptance that the All Blacks are stronger in the vast majority of positions, we thought we’d put that theory to the test by seeing what sort of side would take shape if one was forced to select combined XV based on the two teams that will line out tomorrow morning.

The poll will close at 16:00 this evening with the results released shortly thereafter…
