Pic: Poll Reveals Who People Really Want As Lions Head Coach

Today is the day. We finally learn who will lead the British and Irish Lions to New Zealand this year.

Today’s announcement in Edinburgh seems a mere formality as last night we received a major hint (as if we needed one) that Warren Gatland is set to get the nod once again.

However, an online poll has revealed who the people really want to see at the helm. While it is certainly a left-field option, we are kicking ourselves for not realising sooner.

Indeed, the people have spoken.

None other than Pundit Arena columnist Andy Goode is the most popular choice, and by quite a margin.

Second place is more interesting again, as Joe Schmidt pips Gatland by one percent.

Vern Cotter got 10% of the popular vote.

While Goode is enjoying retirement (for real this time!), he has not yet dipped his toes into coaching. But he’s been so successful at everything else he has turned his hand to, surely it’s only a matter of time.

If the Lions listen to the people, we could be in for a big surprise this afternoon!

Stay tuned to Pundit Arena for Andy’s columns throughout the season.
