Northampton Will Not Release George North For Wales Vs Australia

Wales are gearing up for a bumper November schedule, where they will face Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa. The private goal for Rob Howley and the squad will to be to win all four, although it is a major ask.

However, the opener against the Wallabies could be getting a bit trickier, as George North will not be released by Northampton, according to the Premiership club’s manager.

The winger is a key member of the Welsh backline, and his absence would be a major blow.

Speaking to the BBC, Paul Shields clarified that North will probably not be released, although talks are ongoing with the WRU.

“As it stands George will not be available for that game.

“I know discussions are ongoing with the WRU and the chairmen but I’m not privy to those conversations.”
