Simon Zebo’s last European match before his Munster departure ended in Champions Cup semi-final heartbreak.
The Irish province were defeated 27-22 by Racing 92 on Sunday, with most of the damage done during a first-half blitz in the first half under the sweltering Bordeaux heat.
With Zebo on the way out (to join Racing, coincidentally), it was one of the final opportunities to give the full-back the adulation that he deserves.
As they chanted his name, Zebo responded in kind by throwing his boots to the supporters in the crowd, before walking into the tunnel and reflecting on a frustrating afternoon for Johann van Graan’s men.

The 28-year-old will bring his eight-year association with Munster to an end at the end of the current season, wherein he will follow in former teammate Donnacha Ryan’s footsteps in beginning the next chapter of his career in France’s Top 14.
While this was his last Champions Cup appearance for the province, there is still plenty of work to do for Zebo and Munster on the domestic front as they remain in the hunt for the Pro 14 trophy.
