After the disappointment of the 2016/17 season, in which no Irish side qualified for the knock-out phase of the Champions Cup, this campaign both Munster and Leinster have the opportunity to advance to the semi-final stage.
Although they face tough competition in the form of Toulouse and Wasps respectively, both Irish sides have home advantage this weekend and will hold realistic expectations of making it into the final four.
To that end, Rassie Erasmus has included Conor Murray in his side, despite concerns being raised over the availability of the scrum half as a result of the shoulder injury the 27-year-old sustained against Wales in the Six Nations.
Likewise, Leo Cullen has named Johnny Sexton in the Leinster team, despite concerns being raised following the physical nature of Ireland’s recent encounter with England. Elsewhere, Dan Leave continues at openside, with the exciting Joey Carberry named at full-back.
