Michael Cheika is looking to beef up his backline.
After the extent of Kurtley Beale’s knee injury was revealed, thoughts immediately moved as to who would replace the centre in the Australian line up.
Although many Wallaby supporters would have expected to see Michael Cheika select a centre combination from a short list of players that includes, Matt Giteau, Tevita Kuridrani, Matt Toomua, Christian Lealiifano and Samu Kerevi, last week The Daily Telegraph revealed that the Australian coach was considering selecting Israel Folau in midfield.
This raises the prospect of Australia fielding Folau and Kuridrani as their centre combination. With both players standing at 6ft 4in tall and weighing a combined 205 Kg, such a selection would certainly be imposing.
Not only that, but according to Fox Sports, Cheika is now toying with the idea of selecting 123 Kg 6 ft 4in winger, Taqele Naiyaravoro, against England.
Although Naiyaravoro joined the Glasgow Warriors last summer on a three year deal, he will join the New South Wales Waratahs next season, after taking advantage of a clause in his contract allowing return to the Australian franchise.
Although the big winger was not part of the Wallabies World Cup squad, he made his Australian debut against the US Eagles in a pre tournament warm up game in September.
