Michael Cheika Accidentally Reveals Game Plan Notes For World Cup Final

Oh Cheika you silly goose you…

As Australia tick down to what feels like the biggest game of all time, head coach Michael Cheika has made a bit of a blunder.

Cheika and his assistant Mario Ledesma were at Twickenham today for the captain’s run and, with media present, the two held up some sheets detailing specific tactics for the final tomorrow.

Included in the notes were apparent instructions to target Nehe Milner-Skudder and Julian Savea with high balls and to “rattle” Australia’s number eight Kieran Read at restarts.

The notes also instruct World Rugby player of the year nominee David Pocock to back off at the kick-off and to avoid targeting Dan Carter to avoid ‘Carter rage’.

The game plan notes were on a two sided sheet of paper and although only one side was photographed by the media, a number of other points were also revealed.

In terms of the aerial battle at Twickenham Cheika’s notes dictate to “own the air space, catch everything, chase everything, escort wingers!!!”. Easier said that done of course but we see where the Wallabies manager is coming from.

Some have suggested that Cheeky Cheika intentionally allowed the media to see the notes with some form of reverse psychology in mind for the final. However, we’ll have to wait for the massive clash tomorrow to see whether that theory is true or false.
