Martin Castrogiovanni Missed Ireland Game With Tumour

Veteran prop, Martin Castrogiovanni, missed Italy’s clash with Ireland after being diagnosed with a tumour.

Prior to Italy’s game with Ireland, rugby fans were shocked to learn that their veteran prop, Martin Castrogiovanni, was missing from the Italian line up.

As Castrogiovanni has been a mainstay in the Italian squad, rumours as to why he had been dropped circulated over the course of the weekend.

However it has been confirmed that the Racing 92 tight head has suffered a tumour.

Planet Rugby quoted the Italian team manager, Luigi Troiani, as saying, ‘Martin has pain on a sciatic nerve and after a check doctors found a tumour pressing on his fifth vertebra that is causing inflammation and pain’.

Troiani informed the media that ‘We are sure it is benign and tomorrow he will fly to Milan to see a specialist. The likelihood is he will require surgery’.

Hopefully ‘Castro’ can make a quick and full recovery.
