Manu Tuilagi’s Tigers contract has yet to be renewed.
Although fans were dreaming of watching Matt Toomua link up with Manu Tuilagi in the Tigers midfield next season, such aspirations could yet be shattered according to the Worcester News.
The regional newspaper has reported that the Worcester Warriors are putting together an ambitious bid to bring the England centre to Sixways.
The reported offer could see Tuilagi earn a massive £1.6 million over the course of three years. £750,000 in the first year of his contract and £450,000 in the two proceeding years.
While the Warriors refused to comment on such speculation, Dean Ryan believes the club’s fan need to be more ambitious, stating,
I think everyone has to start understanding — that is the local media and the fans — it is about looking at where this club can go rather than to keep anchoring it to where it has come from.
Although signing Tuilagi would certainly underline such ambition, the Warriors are likely to face competition from Wasps and Bristol for the signature of the Lions centre.
