Leinster’s Cian Healy Learns His Fate Following His Illegal Charge On Exeter Hooker

Leinster prop Cian Healy is now set for a more relaxed Christmas with the news that he has been handed a three-week ban for his illegal charge on Exter Chiefs hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie during their Champions Cup clash at the weekend.

The in-form loosehead has been showing that he has finally overcome a string of injuries in recent seasons and fans have been loving his return to crashing through defences.

Against Exeter on Saturday, his renewed exuberance was misplaced in the 17th minute when he charged into a ruck and ultimately connected with Cowan-Dickie’s head with his forearm.

The collision resulted in Healy being sent to the sin bin and the inevitable citing soon followed.

Leinster Rugby announced the suspension on social media following the ruling.

The loss of the 30-year-old ahead of the crunch clash with Munster at Thomond Park on St. Stephen’s Day will certainly not help head coach Leo Cullen as he plots to do the double on their south-western neighbours.

The two provinces are eager to secure bragging rights and will want their very best players available for selection. Now, with Healy set for a quieter Christmas period, Cullen will have to rethink whatever strategy he had in mind for the clash.
