Watch: Leigh Halfpenny Nailing Unlikely Drone Shot Proves His Kicking Accuracy

Leigh Halfpenny

Leigh Halfpenny is widely regarded as one of the most accurate kickers in rugby. Indeed, it was perhaps this attribute that saw him get the nod ahead of Mike Brown and others for the Lions tour.

The Toulon star was central to the tour success in Australia four years ago, and he could be a serious asset should Warren Gatland elect to deploy him in the test games. However at present, the 28-year-old is believed to be behind Stuart Hogg in the pecking order, as the race for starting berths heats up.

The Welshman was one of a number of players who were charged with the task of hitting a hovering drone with a rugby ball this week, as the Lions continue their preparations ahead of next month’s tour of New Zealand.

The rules were simple; the drone was hovering above a set of posts, and the first player to hit it with a rugby ball was the winner.

Johnny Sexton and Stuart Hogg came close, while Maro Itoje did not. Halfpenny was the first to nail it.

What a kick!
