Harlequins’ Director of Rugby John Kingston has come under increased scrutiny following his side’s dreadful 5-35 home defeat by bottom club London Irish.
It was a thumping victory for Irish, which kept alive their slim hopes of Premiership survival. Meanwhile, it means Quins have just one win in seven in the league and marked the 15th time in 19 fixtures this season the London club have conceded over 20 points.
Many Quins fans had long had frustration with Kingston, hoping for more radical change than the promotion of the former Head Coach following the disappointing final season of Conor O’Shea.
Here are just some of the tweets reacting to yesterday’s shambolic defeat:
I forgot to check the scores yesterday. Is this some kind of late April Fools joke? What a load of nonsense. Up until now I’ve held off the normal noise but now I’ll say it #KingstonOut https://t.co/30Xmm4N43M

I’ve been a loyal season ticket holder and avid supporter for 20 years. Today was the worst of all of those games. Kingston didn’t even have the backbone to be on the sidelines at end of the game. The players didn’t perform today, but he consistently hasn’t #KingstonOut and now!

It’s time for Kingston to acknowledge he is to blame for Quins shocking form and do the decent thing #Kingstonout

Time for a change it is not working. No passion from the coaches! #KingstonOut

Take some responsibility and admit you’re not good enough #kingstonout

With Quins facing a difficult run in that see them go away to play-off contenders Gloucester and in-form Worcester before facing a daunting home game against Exeter, who put ten tries on them the last time these two met in a last game of the season encounter, it may get worse before it gets better.
