Irish Province Revealed as Having Highest Rugby Attendance In Europe

European Professional Club Rugby has announced official attendance records for the Champions Cup and the Challenge Cup. 

The EPCR is the governing body and organiser of two European rugby union club tournaments and today it has announced whose fans are at the races for the continental clashes.

Irish fans have been screaming for years that their fans are the best in the business and statistically speaking, it seems that they’re right.

Only one French side and one English side feature in the top five as the other slots are dominated by the Irish provinces.

Munster take the top spot with almost two and a half million fans in attendance over the course of the season.

Total EPCR home attendance: 1,297,558 (Stadium capacity – 18,030 )

4. Ulster Rugby – Kingspan Stadium (formerly Ravenhill)

Total EPCR home attendance: 1,383,034 (Stadium capacity – 18,196)

3. Leicester Tigers – Welford Road

Total EPCR home attendance: 2,200,585 (Stadium capacity- 24,000, expanding to 30,000)

2. Leinster Rugby – RDS Arena & Aviva Stadium

Total EPCR home attendance: 2,332,992 (Stadium capacities – RDS: 18,500, Aviva: 51,700)

1. Munster Rugby – Thomond Park

Total EPCR home attendance: 2,498,244 (25,600 capacity)
