Watch: Ireland Has A Devastating New Option At Centre In The Form Of Munster’s Chris Farrell

Munster overcame Ospreys at a rain-drenched Liberty Stadium 21 – 6 on Saturday in round three of the PRO14 and it was new signing Chris Farrell who stole many of the headlines.

The 24-year-old centre has spent the last three seasons in the Top 14 with Grenoble and following their relegation to the Pro D2 league, Farrell was offloaded to the Limerick-based province.

Since his arrival in the PRO14, Farrell has made an immediate impact in the No.13 jersey, with his imposing 6′ 3″, 17 st frame rampaging through defences and offering Munster real teeth through the middle of the park.

Farrell was once again showcasing his impressive credentials against Ospreys in Swansea on Saturday, with the highlight of his effort being this barrelling run and silky offload. Following up the move with some textbook ruck defending, the centre is quickly becoming one of the standout players of the fledgeling PRO14 season.

With the Belfast born centre seemingly relishing life at Munster, could it be that we see a call-up to the Ireland set-up for the Autumn series of Tests against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina?

With British and Irish Lions Robbie Henshaw and Jared Payne having assumed international duties at inside and outside centre, respectively, Farrell certainly has his work cut out for him to elbow his way into the starting spots.

However, should he continue the form he has shown so far this term, it could difficult to deny the Munster man from claiming his place in Schmidt’s matchday 23 in the near future.
