Ireland Fans Distraught At Losing 2023 Rugby World Cup Recommendation

World Rugby has dealt a major blow to Ireland’s hopes of hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup by recommending a rival bid from South Africa.

Although the recommendation is just that, a recommendation, it does carry a significant amount of weight when it comes to the actual voting process on November 15th.

The news, understandably, was met with bitter disappointment on these shores as many had hoped that the idea of Ireland hosting a major sporting event such as this in 2023 was a genuine possibility. For others, it was a sense of sobering reality when it was revealed that Ireland’s bid had the lowest recommendation in almost every category:

The location of the tournament will be voted on next month, but it’s looking pretty bleak for Ireland’s chances right now.
