Joe Schmidt will have to make alterations to his line-up.
Just when it was thought that Ireland would be about to embark on an international series without any major injury concerns, this morning The Belfast Telegraph reported that Iain Henderson will miss Ireland’s first test against New Zealand on 5 November.
The big Ulster player who can play in either the second or back row, picked up a shoulder injury during Ulster’s win over the Exeter Chiefs.
Although Henderson is expected to return in two to four weeks, as Ulster are not scheduled to play prior to Ireland’s game Canada, the 24 year-old will have little time to prove his fitness before the subsequent game against Australia.
Although Ireland can field both Ultan Dillane and Devin Toner in the second row, the power and aggression Henderson brings will be missed.
Elsewhere, Joe Schmidt will today know whether or not Keith Earls will be available next month, following his red card against Glasgow last weekend.
