David Pocock has received numerous contract offers from the Top 14.
This morning we reported on an article published in La Provence and on tweets from Rugby World journalist, Gavin Mortimer, suggesting that David Pocock was on the verge of signing for a Top 14 Club. However since then the story has taken an unexpected twist.
Despite receiving contract offers from from Top 14 clubs, Bordeaux Bégles, Toulouse, Racing 92 and Toulon, it now appears that Pocock is set to remain in Australia with the Brumbies.
L’Equipe have this afternoon reported the news, suggesting that as the Wallaby flanker had not yet gained the 60 caps necessary to continue representing Australia while playing abroad, he chose to turn down what were no doubt lucrative offers.
The news will come as a welcome relief to Australia fans, after the in demand openside was first linked with a move to Bordeaux late last year.
Indeed, the fact that he has decided to ignore the money on offer in the Top 14 will give heart to fans of other Super Rugby clubs whose players are being tempted north.
