Harlequins have launched a stylish retro jersey.
To mark their sesquicentennial, Harlequins and Adidas have drawn on inspiration from the past and designed a trendy new jersey ahead of the 2016/17 season.
In keeping with the retro theme, some of Harlequins’ leading players and coaches donned bowler hats and moustaches to recreate one of the oldest team photographs in the history of the club. By doing so, the shirt recognises the evolution of the iconic coloured quarter design synonymous with the club.
Strangely enough, Jamie Roberts does not look out of place in the photograph. His square jaw seems to belong in the Victorian era, and could earn him a casting in a remake of a film like Zulu. Conversely, the long hair of both Luke Wallace and Marland Yarde would have probably seen the duo sent to a 19th century penal colony.
In addition to the jersey, Quins are planning a series of events throughout the forthcoming season and have released this video to promote their 150th anniversary.
