Grenoble have not enjoyed the best start to the season.
Languishing in 13th place on the Top 14 table and in danger of being relegated to the Pro D2, Grenoble are suffering through a difficult season.
To date Bernard Jackman’s side have only registered two wins, one of which was against bottom side Bayonne. Despite the need for some solidarity within their squad, Jonathan Best is already looking to jump ship.
The 33 year-old French second row has struggled to break into the Grenoble team this season, and with his contract due to expire next summer, Best has taken matters into his own hands in order to find a new club.
The 6′ 4″ lock posted a advertisement on leboncoin.fr, a website similar to Ebay, putting himself up for sale.
As part of his tongue in cheek pitch, Best claimed there was a possibility of him becoming available immediately if an agreement could be reached with Grenoble, otherwise any potential club would have to wait until next July to attain his services.
Maintaining a humorous tone, Best added, “All checks have been done, MOT is okay”.
Unbeatable quality/price ratio, kept in the warm in the garage for more than a year…. Could be free straight away if agreement with current garage, or available from next July!
Doesn’t consume too much salary but knows how to consume his opponents.
Although Best’s add has since been taken down by Leboncoin, it remains visible on his twitter account.
If you’re local club is short a second row, you could do worse than contact the ageing Frenchman.
