When Warren Gatland named his 41-man squad for British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand, Leinster and Ireland star Garry Ringrose’s name was not among them, despite having name-checked by the coach as one to watch.
The 22-year-old has had an incredible season, having burst into the Ireland senior ranks and quickly become the first choice outside centre for Joe Schmidt and Leo Cullen at Leinster. The future is looking bright for the man so many are comparing to another famous No.13 wearer, Brian O’Driscoll.
Having missed out on this Lions tour, it is expected and assumed that he will eventually wear the famous red jersey in the future. In the meantime, he is more than content to remain in green this summer for Ireland’s tour of the USA.
On Saturday night, Joe Schmidt’s charges took on their hosts in New Jersey with a much-changed squad that offered debutants, fringe players and established internationals to shine in the evening sunshine.
It was a game that was never in doubt for the visitors as they ran out 55-19 winners, scoring nine tries along the way. It was, however, the moment that saw Ringrose step in for Joey Carberry to casually slot a tricky conversion that hugged the far touchline.
Take a look.

As Warren Gatland and his Lions prepare for their clash with the Highlanders on Tuesday, the young Irishman is certainly throwing out fresh reminders that he is the whole package should there be a need for a Lions call-up.
