Seven years after being promoted to the Premiership, Exeter Chiefs have made history by beating Wasps in the final at Twickenham after extra-time.
The Chiefs made it to the final the hard way, going on a remarkable undefeated run, before denying Saracens at the death in last week’s semi-final.
Meanwhile, Wasps powered past Leicester Tigers to ensure a place in the Twickenham decider.
In what was an enthralling final, 80 minutes of rugby couldn’t separate the sides as it was locked at 20-20 following the final whistle.
Granted, it wasn’t always pretty…
An awful lot of fannying around at this scrum.

However, rugby fans everywhere enjoyed it for what it was, a thoroughly entertaining game of rugby between two top teams.

Wasps defence is insane. This could be heartbreaking for chiefs. ?

Glad I’m not a Wasps or Chiefs fan atm ?#WASvEXE

It came right down to the wire. The Chiefs’ decision-making was certainly called into question.

You can commend Chiefs for going for it after that penalty with 8 mins to go but 20-20 right now would feel a lot better.

However, the Chiefs finally saved their own skin, forcing extra-time before a Gareth Steenson penalty in the dying moments secured a 23-20 victory.
And the reaction to their win was one of unadulterated joy.
